ABOUT US

The Warlocks is an organization founded circa 1971 in Spanish Harlem (El Barrio). It was created out of the need to devise and protect a vehicle for organized activities and events for a group of youngsters living in a volatile and often unforgiving environment. Now we have grown up and understand our mission.

OUR MISSION

To continue to support each other and provide resources that will elevate our youth and communities in order to enrich all of our lives.

SUPPORTING OUR YOUTH AND COMMUNITY

We believe in “paying it forward.” This is why we will begin to establish a committee to generate funds in order to provide scholarship money to a graduating HS senior deserving of an opportunity to further their education.
We will donate part of our net proceeds from events, apparel and book sales toward this effort.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION FOR STUDENTS

It’s here!
Recently, in 2025, one of our members celebrated a big milestone birthday. Guests were asked to donate any monetary gifts to the Alina Sanchez, former paraprofessional, Scholarship Fund. Thank you to family and friends. The fund generated $4,000 towards two scholarships that will be given to Park East High School in East Harlem. The scholarship will be presented on behalf of the Warlocks to one male and one female senior student graduating June 2026.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our brother and confidant on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.  Orlando Rivera was a friend to us for more than fifty years.  He had a wit that kept people on their toes.  We will miss his undeniable understanding of current issues and not forget his vibrant spirit.
In God’s presence, rest in peace.

EDITORIAL – FEB 2026

Chaos!  Again, we find ourselves in this Administration’s turmoil

  • President Trump is insulting and threatening our allies
  • U.S. is acting as an imperial country
  • Tariffs are being imposed on all countries not capitulating with the President and used as a bargaining chip
  • Across the board, health cuts and insurance is slowly being dismantled for the least able to pay
  • Children’s programs have been discontinued and curtailed to affect their health directly
  • Women’s programs are being abolished and women’s services dwindled to provide no healthcare services
  • Food prices have gone up significantly and people have to go to food banks to make ends meet
  • The only people obtaining greater wealth are the richest two percent of the decadent self-serving accomplices
