America has always written what is best for America and what they want people to remember. The truth is that it has caught up with them. Now the truth must be exposed. If America is to be truly great it must deal with it’s past in order to move forward. We all must deal with the truth at some point in our lives. As the saying goes, “The truth will set you free! “Policies and laws don’t rely on the truth; they only put into practice what is convenient at the moment. That is why laws change continuously. They serve as a barometer to changing times. You wouldn’t have women voting, a humans life not worth 3/5 that of a white man’s life and woman able to own property, to name a few out of hundreds of racist government statutes. America is the youngest, by far, of any of the civilized, democratic, modern countries. You would think that they would learn from those countries who are centuries and thousands of years old. You would suppose that America who fought for freedom would extend that “independence” to all its people! One thing is to write about it another is to do it. That is where we fall short! The message is simple we all need to work to make America fully great for the first time!
And for those who say, “I made it!”, I can tell you dozens of my friends who did not make it. Of course, I give certain organizations and political leaders credit for putting programs in effect (and reparations) to the disenfranchised. That is my point! the marginalized and the oppressed always have a more challenging time competing. For every me there are hundreds because of their privileged past that do not have to think about any disadvantages other than their lack of desire. While I had to always think about money, food, transportation, dangerous community, health, and access to sometimes basic needs. Sure, it is easy to criticize other people. Its only when you walk in their shoes that you can fully understand people’s anguish.
